Smuggling Techniques
Regarding inquiries concerning why criminals use a method that is particularly vulnerable to weather factors rather than simpler to operate drones, representatives elaborated that "Weather devices are basic instruments used by illegal traders - they are less expensive than drones for carrying smoking materials from Belarus."
Security Service Goals
Officials added that "Our services' aim is to capture the greatest possible quantities of contraband and to apprehend coordinators and involved individuals so that these practices become not financially viable and present no risk to civil aviation."
Regional Security Context
Such border infiltrations occur during a time of heightened tension in Europe following numerous drone incursions that have resulted in flight interruptions across European nations.
Recent incidents in neighboring countries have prompted European leaders to speed up talks about enhancing aerial security throughout the region.
